Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Pro Tires
Had a laugh when these were in my Summit Racing email

DOT approved and people run 6's on them!
I think they were designed for x275 and racing like that.

I just think it’s hysterical looking. I imagine the guys at M/T were like hey, lets put a couple little grooves, yeah we’re good - hey DOT guys - approve this shit. DOT guys - “Sure you got it guys”
![]() 05/17/2016 at 14:56 |
|
That has to be the absolute bare minimum tread needed for dot approval. Wouldn’t want to be driving on them when it starts to rain.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 14:58 |

FOR STREET USE. STREETS THAT ARE TOTALLY NOT BONE DRY NOR HAVE BEEN PREPARED FOR AN EVENT OR ANYTHING BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE SILLY.

Stock Mustang tire pictured above.

I imagine it would be smarter to just park the car until the rain has passed....and the road has dried entirely lol
![]() 05/17/2016 at 14:59 |
|
MT has even said these are not intended for street use. They are for “street radial” classes that try to limit performance via tire size.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:01 |
|
They most definitely are not intended for street use but DOT approval means you could.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:09 |
|
That wouldn’t be sketchy to drive on at all in the rain. I wouldn’t do it.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:11 |
|
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet is one thing, but this smells more like a blatant marketing trick. Lemme guess... they’re able to sell more by putting the word “street” in the tire name, because people will probably click “buy now” before reading the description.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:19 |

This is the only use for those. Still impressed with what these guys can do with a 10 inch tire.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:24 |
|
There it is for the record ladies and gentleman DailyDrivesADragon wouldn’t do it!
(had to find a way to incorporate your name lol)
In all seriousness though these things are ridiculous for road use. If it started raining I’d just park.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:25 |
|
Oh no. One guy wouldn’t do something. STOP THE FUCKING PRESSES
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:25 |

I bet it’s a classification for drag racing. These would qualify in the street classes despite being obviously not street tires because they say DOT on them.

lol
just typing your name without spaces again, don’t get yourself in a tizzy
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:27 |
|
man those are nuts, but I will say, small tire is smart - they probably cost less
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:30 |
|
I’m not familiar with drag racing terminology. Is “street class” supposed to imply that the vehicle is public-road-worthy?
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:32 |
|
yeah there are levels of qualification, I’m not all that familiar with them either but I’m sure there’s a cut off line when you have to trailer it to the track because it’s not legal on the street anymore.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:35 |
|
I’m sorta playing along with your joke.

‘’ Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Pro tires are designed for drag racing use only; they’re not legal for street use. ‘’
Makes sense calling them Street, right?

In a lot of cases it means you use some equipment that is street legal.
There are many different classes with different rules. To be honest, M/Ts original ET Street drag radial is fine in dry weather on the road and I think they just stuck with the branding since the original tire was so well liked.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:52 |
|
eeeeeeeeeexactly
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:54 |
|
They are probably OK in dry weather over 45* or so
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:54 |
|
Come change it yourself.
If you really feel like that’s a good idea.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 15:55 |

So “street” means street class , not street use . It’s good that there is at least some level of consistency in the nomenclature, but that’s one hell of a terminology overlap. Very easily misunderstood.

“These Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Pro tires are purpose-built race tires for classes requiring specific size tires”
Street classes in drag racing don’t mean street legal.

After doing a couple of large burnouts to get temp in the tires.

Ever tried bolting a ET Drag Radial to a Mustang/Camaro/etc.? They’re too big, that’s where the Street Radial comes in, it’s a non-DOT slick that is smaller and can be bolted on a “normal” car. Nothing to see here if you read the “street” part correctly.
